Most people who find us on Google want to know three things: how much it costs, when we open and how long it takes to get here. Until now those answers were spread across half the website. Here they are in one place.
You will also find what you actually see during the hour the route takes, and the practical things worth knowing before you book: the steps, the temperature down there and what happens if you turn up with a pushchair.
Price, opening times and how to get here
An adult ticket costs €18.50 online and a child ticket, ages 3 to 12, €12.50. We open in the morning and close in the middle of the afternoon: entry is by timed slot, and you pick your time when you book. We are on the Manacor to Porto Cristo road, kilometre 11, an hour from Palma, with free parking. The visit lasts an hour.
2026 ticket prices
Let’s start with the easiest money you will ever save. Booking on the website costs one euro less per ticket than paying at the door. That is four euros for a family of four, and you arrive with your time already reserved.
These are the 2026 prices, VAT included. Online is always one euro cheaper than the ticket office, and under-threes go free.

From thirteen upwards the adult rate applies, so bear that in mind if you are travelling with teenagers. Children aged 0 to 2 come in free, with one limit: two per adult over 18.
Rates are reviewed from one season to the next. If you are reading this later on, check the amount when you book. What does not change is the one-euro rule.
Is the Dinos & Caves combined ticket worth it?
That depends on whether you also fancy seeing Dinosaurland, which sits on the same site, fifty metres from the ticket office. In money the sums are simple: two separate adult tickets online come to €37, and the combined ticket costs €26. Eleven euros less per person. For children, €25 against €20.
The combined ticket is for a single day and cannot be split across two visits. If you would rather go on different dates, buy two separate tickets.
It works particularly well with children. An hour underground and an hour and a half outdoors among the dinosaurs fit comfortably into one morning, and the two complement each other nicely.
The resident discount
If you live in the Balearics you get two euros off each ticket. It applies at the ticket office only, on presentation of proof of residence; a DNI is enough. That brings the adult ticket to €17.50 and the child ticket to €11.50.
It is worth doing the full sum. Since the online ticket is already a euro cheaper, the real saving against the internet price is one euro. It still pays off, and it is the one case where coming to the window beats booking online.
Groups, schools and associations
Organised groups have their own rates and book by email. Write to info@cuevas-hams.com with the date, the number of people and whether you want the caves only or the combined ticket, and we will send you a quote.
Opening times: when you can visit
We open in the morning and close in the middle of the afternoon. In summer we open every day; in winter there are closed days and the opening window is shorter.
We deliberately do not print a fixed time here, because the calendar is adjusted month by month. The reliable reference is always the official calendar, which is kept up to date: dates and opening times.
How timed entry works
Entry is not open-ended. When you book you choose a specific time, and that time needs to be kept, because the group goes in together.
That is also where you get the exact answer to “what time do you open?”: the slots available on your date appear during the booking process itself. If you already have a date in mind, thirty seconds will tell you what time you can go in.
The visit lasts exactly one hour, so if you also want to stop at the shop or have something to eat, allow yourself a little longer.
How to get to Cuevas dels Hams
By car, from Palma or from the airport
We are on the Ma-4020 road from Manacor to Porto Cristo, at kilometre 11, with the car park right at the entrance.
From Palma you take the Ma-15 towards Manacor and, once there, the Ma-4020 towards Porto Cristo. The drive is around an hour.
From the airport it takes much the same. The airport is on the side of Palma where the Manacor road begins, so there is no need to cross the city.
By bus
You can get here without a car. The TIB 401 line, Palma to Cala Millor, stops at “Dinosaurland-Coves Hams”, on our own site. It leaves from the Plaça d’Espanya intermodal station and takes around an hour and a half.
For the return, the stop is in Porto Cristo, on the Cala Millor – Palma line. There is no direct line from the airport: you first get to Plaça d’Espanya and change there for the 401.
If you are coming by taxi
One piece of advice we always give, because it saves a lot of frustration: sort your return journey out before you arrive.
In high season there are few taxis around and the wait can be long, especially in the middle of the day and with small children. It is a service outside our control and not something we can arrange from here, so it is better to have it planned.
What you will see inside
The route follows a fixed order and takes you through three very different caves. It is around 500 metres on foot and an hour on the clock.
The Round Cave
Millions of years ago this was a closed underground cave. Today it is open to the sky and it is a garden, with unusual vegetation and native birds living free.
It is where the descent begins, and it works well as an introduction: by the time you carry on downwards you have a sense of where you are.
The Blue Cave
This is where “Discovering the Past” is screened, a documentary about the first inhabitants of Mallorca, how the caves formed and how they were found. It is available in several languages.
This stretch holds Samson’s Columns, the Plains of Fra Mauro and the Pit of Hell. Its auditorium screens GENESIS, a time lapse running from the Big Bang to the present day, projected onto the rock of the cave itself. The LED lighting is new and changes how everything looks.
The Classic Cave
Twelve galleries, the Hall of the Owls and, at the end of the route, the underground lake known as the Sea of Venice, where the musical performance takes place.
It is the part people remember most: water that is completely still and the acoustics of the chamber.
The Dream of an Angel chamber
This is where the fish hooks are, and where almost everyone stops. “Hams” means fish hooks in Mallorcan, and the name is not a metaphor.
They are extremely fine formations that start growing downwards, like any stalactite, then suddenly curve round and grow back up again. A hook. They are called that because that is exactly what they look like.

A guide walks with the group the whole way. It is not a guided tour in the strict sense, with a set commentary from start to finish, but there is always someone to ask and someone setting the pace so nobody is left behind. With children or with older visitors, you notice the difference.
Before you come
The steps
The route has 217 steps up and 148 down, with resting points along the way.
It is worth knowing before you book: the caves are not accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs cannot be taken inside. There is a place to leave them next to the ticket office, and there are baby-changing facilities on site.
If someone in your group cannot manage stairs, better to factor that in now. The combined ticket would not pay off for them, as half of it could not be used.
The temperature
It is a constant 20 °C (68 °F) all year round, and it feels good: welcome in January and, in the middle of August coming straight from the beach, even more so. If you feel the cold easily, long sleeves in your bag will be plenty.
Footwear does not matter, anything works, though the ground can be damp so comfortable shoes are appreciated.
Food, photos and rules
Food and drink cannot be brought onto the site, but there is a picnic area nearby and the Dinoburger restaurant at the entrance, with smash burgers and a children’s menu. Inside you have free wifi, toilets and a shop.
You can take photos, without flash, tripod or selfie stick, and we love it when you share them tagging @cuevasdelshams. You can bring a backpack too. Pets and smoking are not allowed on site.
And two rules we do enforce: do not touch the formations and stay on the marked path. What is down there took thousands of years to grow and one hand ruins it in a second. Under-14s need to be accompanied by an adult.
How to buy your tickets
Booking online takes a couple of minutes, there is no need to register and the ticket arrives by email. You show it from your phone at the entrance.

- Enter the tickets by age band. Under-threes do not need a ticket.
